Simultaneous wall and blood-flow phase-contrast imaging using a single low VENC
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Intra-ventricular blood flow and regional myocardial motion are two key components used in assessing cardiac function. Both can be quantified using phase contrast MRI, but typically require two imaging sequences to be acquired one with a high velocity encoding value (VENC) and one with a low VENC, selected to optimize velocity sensitivity while avoiding aliasing. In an effort to obtain velocity information from both ventricular blood and myocardial motion in one acquisition, dual-VENC techniques (Buchenberg, ISMRM 2011) have been proposed and evaluated.

Acclerated Dual Venc Phase Contrast VIPR in Healthy Volunteers
Introduction: Rapid imaging techniques now allow for the acquisition of volumetric, time-resolved, phase contrast (PC) images with three directional velocity encoding. Covering large vascular territories with a single 4D PC MRI makes choosing the proper velocity encoding (Venc) challenging. If the Venc is too low for a vessel of interest, velocity aliasing occurs. If chosen too high, the veloci...
متن کاملSimultaneous measurement of blood-flow velocity and regional wall motion with phase unwrapping
Background Doppler echocardiography-based techniques are routinely used to assess the heart and ventricular function by measuring blood flow and cardiac tissue velocity profiles. While these measures may similarly be obtained by phase contrast MRI, each require separate acquisitions and subsequent analysis to accommodate for vastly different velocities and therefore velocity encoding (VENC) val...
متن کاملAccelerated Dual Velocity Encoded Phase Contrast VIPR
Introduction: Recently, several novel approaches for rapid MRI imaging have allowed for the acquisition of volumetric, time-resolved, phase contrast (PC) imaging with three-directional velocity encoding. One of these methods, PC vastly undersampled isotropic projection (PC VIPR) [1], a truly 3D radially undersampled acquisition, provides high resolution anatomical and velocity information in cl...
متن کاملHigh dynamic range magnetic resonance flow imaging in the abdomen
Time-resolved, volumetric phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (also known as 4D flow MRI) is a powerful clinical tool used by radiologists to simultaneously assess cardiovascular anatomy, flow, and function [1]. With raw data acquired in one 8-10 minute scan, both anatomical and flow images can be reconstructed by encoding tissue velocity information into the phase of the raw MRI signal. ...
متن کاملAdjustment of the velocity encoding parameter to the blood flow velocity is not necessary for accurate and precise quantification of aortic regurgitation severity with phase contrast magnetic resonance imaging
Background Accurate and precise quantification of aortic regurgitation (AVR) severity by cardiovascular magnetic resonance is essential for the clinical decission-making and timing of surgery. The regurgitant flow volume (RV) can be measured directly by 2D phase contrast (PC) velocity measurements. The velocity encoding parameter, venc, has been identified by others as an important factor for a...
